- ** Sheet View's Edit Menu Commands
-
-
- █ Edit menu
-
- The Edit menu contains data sheet
- editing commands that let you cut, copy,
- paste, delete and insert data in the
- Sheet View windows. If you make a
- mistake, you can undo the most recent
- change.
-
- All the data editing commands use
- the Clipboard to interchange data. The
- Clipboard is the magic behind cutting and
- pasting. It is a special data storage
- place that holds data that you have cut
- or copied, so you can paste it elsewhere.
-
-
- █ Undo
-
- The Edit | Undo command restores the
- data in the current data sheet to the way
- it was before the most recent editing
- event.
-
-
- █ Cut
-
- The Edit | Cut command removes the
- selected data block from your data sheet
- and places the data in the Clipboard. The
- removed data cells are filled with blank
- cells. You can paste that data into any
- other data sheet or somewhere else in the
- same data sheet by choosing the Edit | Paste
- command. The data remains in the Clipboard
- so that you can paste the same data many
- times.
-
-
- █ Copy
-
- The Edit | Copy command places the
- selected data in the Clipboard and leaves
- the selected data intact. You can then
- paste that data into any other data sheet
- by choosing Edit | Paste command.
-
-
- █ Paste
-
- The Edit | Paste command puts data from
- the Clipboard into the current data sheet
- at the cursor position. This action
- depends on what you have in the Clipboard.
- If the data in the Clipboard contains
- columns (rows), then it will paste data in
- columns starting at the column (row) which
- contains the cursor cell; if the data in
- the Clipboard contains only a block of data
- cells, then the paste action will put the
- data to the sheet starting at the current
- cursor cell. The paste action overwrites
- data in the data sheet. It does not insert
- data into the data sheet. To insert data,
- use the Edit | Insert command.
-
-
- █ Clear
-
- The Edit | Clear command removes the
- selected data from the data sheet but does
- not place it into the Clipboard. The
- removed data cells are filled with blank
- cells. This means that you can not paste
- the data as you could if you had chosen Cut
- or Copy commands.
-
-
- █ Delete
-
- The Edit | Delete command works like the
- Edit | Clear command. It removes the
- selected data from the data sheet but does
- not place it into the Clipboard. This
- command also shift the data sheet so that
- there are no blank cells.
-
-
- █ Insert
-
- The Edit | Insert command inserts data
- from the Clipboard into the data sheet
- starting at the current cursor cell.
